Big industries that have approached the government to start business in Goa with a total investment of more than Rs 21 crore could create many jobs. Some of them are Lakme Lever Ltd, Binani Industries Ltd, which proposes to manufacture molded glass fibre products, FDC Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation with plans for LPG filling plants.

Pepsi Foods Ltd, one of the biggest soft drink MNC is likely to take over its bottling operations in Goa and Karnataka from its three-year old franchise bottler. Its marketing operations in the three Konkan districts of Maharashtra are being handled here.

The Hindustan Coca Cola Bottling Southwest Pvt. Ltd has now commissioned a 30-crore mega plant in Goa. There are industries like Rs. 520 crore worth Italian project of automobile parts of Taksid Kalyani waiting for the extension of tax holiday to get into action. Japan and several firms from Singapore and Hong Kong have shown interest in exploiting Indian tourism sector in a major way.

Major cellular service operators in Goa include names like Reliance Infocomm, Tata Indicom, BSNL, Hutch, Bharti Airtel and Idea cellular.
